Wago Elwag Develops Micro-Grid with Photovoltaic System at Polish Plant

Wago Elwag, a Wrocław-based manufacturer of electrical cable components and industrial automation systems, has developed a micro-grid at its production facility in Wróblowice. The investment, which includes a 700 kWp photovoltaic (PV) system, is among the first of its kind in Polish industry.

The PV installation, launched in 2023, features 1,648 modules, SolarEdge power optimizers, and seven inverters, all managed by Wago’s Solar Park Management controller. The system, installed on a 9,000 m² rooftop, is expected to produce 752 MWh of electricity annually, covering 26% of the plant’s energy needs and reducing CO2 emissions by 515 tons—equivalent to planting 27,000 trees.

Wago’s Sales Director, Jacek Woźniak, highlights that the project will stabilize energy costs and reduce operating expenses. With 78% of energy generated by the PV system consumed onsite, Wago's investment aligns with its sustainability goals. Founded in 1997, Wago Elwag is part of the international Wago group and employs around 1,200 people at its state-of-the-art 35,000 m² Wróblowice facility.
