Varitex to Build 52 MW Photovoltaic Farm in Łódź Province
Varitex, a company specializing in investment services and real estate, has announced its largest renewable energy project to date – a 52 MW photovoltaic (PV) farm in the Działoszyn commune, Łódź province. The installation will cover 65 hectares, equivalent to 90 football fields, and consist of over 85,000 solar panels.
“This is the largest photovoltaic project we have undertaken,” said Katarzyna Król-Domańska, Head of Renewable Energy Projects at Varitex. The energy generated from the PV farm is expected to power nearly 26,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 40,000 tons annually, equivalent to the emissions of around 10,000 cars.
The PV farm will be connected to the GPZ Trębaczew station, providing green energy to homes and industries in the region. The project has received grid connection approvals and is in the final stages of obtaining a building permit. However, frequent shutdowns of energy production ordered by Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE) during peak periods present a risk. As a result, Varitex is considering energy storage facilities for future implementation.
Construction is expected to take several years, with energy storage being a key consideration to mitigate future disruptions.
