French energy group TotalEnergies continues its rapid expansion in the renewable energy market, securing a €1.57 billion acquisition of German renewable developer VSB Group. This deal includes VSB’s projects in Poland, where the company operates under VSB Energie Odnawialne, further solidifying TotalEnergies’ footprint in the region.

In 2022, TotalEnergies acquired Poland's largest biogas producer, Polska Grupa Biogazowa, operating 17 biogas plants generating 166 GWh of green energy annually. It also secured 200 MW of photovoltaic projects in the country.

The Dresden-based VSB Group has been active in the renewable sector since 1996, employing around 500 staff. Its portfolio includes 457 MW of projects operational or under construction, primarily in Germany and France, alongside a pipeline of 18 GW across photovoltaic, wind, and battery projects in Germany, France, and Poland.

TotalEnergies aims to exceed 24 GW of installed renewable capacity by the end of 2024, up from 17 GW in 2022. Its target is 35 GW by 2025 and over 100 TWh annually by 2030.

Additionally, TotalEnergies finalized the sale of a 50% stake in 1.7 GW solar and 300 MW battery projects in Texas to Apollo for €757 million.
