TotalEnergies Acquires VSB Group for €1.6 Billion, Boosting Renewable Energy Portfolio

French energy giant TotalEnergies has acquired European renewable energy developer VSB Group for €1.6 billion (approximately 18 billion kroner). This strategic purchase strengthens TotalEnergies’ position in the European renewable energy market and marks a significant step in its transition from fossil fuels to sustainable energy sources.

VSB Group, with 500 employees, operates 475 megawatts of renewable energy projects and has a project pipeline of 18 gigawatts, including wind, solar, and energy storage solutions. These projects are concentrated in Germany, France, and Poland, key markets for TotalEnergies’ growth in renewables.

The acquisition was finalized with Swiss investment firm Partners Group, which has controlled VSB Group since 2020. By integrating VSB Group’s extensive portfolio and expertise, TotalEnergies enhances its ability to support Europe’s climate goals and accelerate the region's transition to renewable energy.

This move also presents an opportunity for Poland to advance its shift from coal to cleaner energy sources. With 18 gigawatts in its project pipeline, TotalEnergies is poised to expand renewable energy infrastructure across Europe, contributing to the global push for sustainable energy solutions.
