The Largest Czech Hydrogen Project Starts, Ten Hydrogen-Powered Buses to Operate in Central Bohemian Region
The largest hydrogen project in the Czech Republic is set to launch, featuring ten Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen buses that will operate in the Central Bohemian Region by the end of 2025. This innovative project is a collaboration between the Central Bohemian Region, ČEZ Group, and the transport company Martin Uher Bus. The buses will service the hilly terrain around Mníšek pod Brdy, covering routes 446, 517, and 688.
ČEZ ESCO will supply the hydrogen infrastructure, including a 540 kW electrolyzer, a hydrogen filling station, and storage tanks, all powered by green electricity from the ČEZ hydropower plant in Vrané nad Vltavou. The project will be primarily funded by European subsidies through the Integrated Regional Operational Program (IROP) and the ITI program for metropolitan development.
The hydrogen buses, with a range of up to 320 kilometers, are expected to transport several thousand passengers annually, traveling approximately 550,000 kilometers. This project aligns with the Czech Republic's hydrogen strategy, which envisions significant growth in hydrogen consumption by 2050.
The collaboration involves Solaris, a leading bus manufacturer, and Logan Energy, a specialist in hydrogen technology. This project marks a significant step towards emission-free public transport in the region.
