Sunrun's California virtual power plant adds over 16,200 home batteries
Sunrun Inc has created the largest virtual power plant in the United States by connecting over 16,200 solar-plus-storage systems from California customers. The CalReady virtual power plant will assist California's grid during peak hours and extreme weather events, providing critical energy. Sunrun's network will be available daily from May to October, compensating customers for their service while maintaining a 20% backup reserve. Sunrun plans to double capacity for the Demand Side Grid Support programme this summer.
