Solaris Secures Hydrogen Bus Order from Kerpen Public Transport Operator

Solaris, Europe's leading hydrogen bus manufacturer, has commenced deliveries of its Urbino 12 hydrogen buses to REVG Kerpen, a public transport operator in Germany. The order, consisting of 26 buses, marks the first collaboration between Solaris and the Kerpen-based carrier. The initial two buses have already been delivered and are operational in Kerpen, with the remaining vehicles scheduled for delivery in 2025.

The Urbino 12 hydrogen buses feature advanced technology, including 70 kW hydrogen fuel cells that generate electricity on board and central electric engines for propulsion. These buses are also equipped with Solaris High Power batteries to support fuel cell operation during peak hours.

Christian Goll, Managing Director of Solaris Deutschland z o. o., expressed pride in contributing to Kerpen's sustainable transport initiatives, emphasizing the city's commitment to pioneering eco-friendly solutions.

Solaris holds a 44.5% market share in Europe's hydrogen bus segment as of 2023. Its Urbino hydrogen buses are already in operation in several German cities, including Cologne, Wuppertal, Frankfurt, and Munich, with more cities like Krefeld and Hamburg soon to follow.
