Shikun & Binui invests €4 million in 35-km underground power line in Iași County
Shikun & Binui, through its Romanian subsidiary Deleni Wind Energy SRL, is investing €4 million in constructing a 35-km underground power line to connect renewable energy facilities in Deleni and Scobinți to the Boureni transformer station. The project, approved by local authorities, will cross six communes—Deleni, Scobinți, Ceplenița, Cotnari, Balș, and Cucuteni—and the town of Hârlău.
The underground line will be buried approximately one meter deep along obstacle-free routes, temporarily occupying 105,000 m² of public and private land. This includes agricultural roads, communal roads, county and national roads, and other properties. The initiative addresses increasing global electricity demand and the need to transition from fossil fuels to renewable, non-polluting energy sources.
The power generated by wind and photovoltaic facilities connected to this line will avoid 0.3–0.5 kg of CO₂ emissions per kWh, significantly reducing the carbon footprint. This project is part of Shikun & Binui’s broader strategy to expand renewable energy production in Romania, with similar investments in Vlădeni, Costuleni, Erbiceni, and other locations in Iași County.
Shikun & Binui Energy Romania, a subsidiary of the Netherlands-based Shikun & Binui Energy Europe BV, leads the project. The Israeli-owned holding continues to expand its footprint in Europe’s renewable energy sector.
