Serbia's Subotica to Become Battery Hub with Elevenes Investment

Elevenes, a prominent player in the battery industry, is set to establish a significant presence in Subotica, Serbia. The company plans to build a state-of-the-art battery factory, which is expected to bolster the region's economic landscape. This strategic move is part of Elevenes' broader objective to expand its footprint in the European market.

The upcoming facility will specialize in the production of advanced lithium-ion batteries, catering to the increasing demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy storage solutions. The factory is projected to create approximately 1,000 new jobs, offering substantial employment opportunities for the local community.

Subotica's Mayor, Stevan Bakić, expressed enthusiasm about the investment, highlighting the potential economic benefits and the alignment with Serbia's green energy goals. He emphasized that the new factory would not only enhance the city's industrial capacity but also contribute to Serbia's transition towards sustainable energy.

The Elevenes factory will be situated in the Mali Bajmok Industrial Zone, an area known for its robust infrastructure and strategic location. The site was selected due to its proximity to major transportation networks, which will facilitate efficient distribution of the produced batteries across Europe.

Marko Perić, Elevenes' regional director, underscored the significance of this investment, noting that the Subotica facility will be one of the company's largest production sites in Europe. He added that the factory would employ cutting-edge technology and adhere to stringent environmental standards, ensuring minimal ecological impact.

The project is set to commence construction later this year, with production expected to begin by the end of 2025. This development marks a pivotal step in Elevenes' growth strategy and reinforces Serbia's position as a key player in the global battery manufacturing sector.
