Rezolv Energy Signs Contracts for 229 MW Solar Park in Bulgaria
Rezolv Energy, funded by the Actis fund, has selected CMC Europe, Solarpro, and Green Solar Energy as contractors for the construction of the 229 MW solar park "St. George" in Silistra, Bulgaria. The project, located on a decommissioned airport, will cover 165 hectares and include nearly 400,000 solar panels. Construction is set to begin immediately, with completion expected next year.
CMC Europe and Solarpro, a leading technology integrator in Eastern Europe, will handle the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract, while Green Solar Energy will manage the high-voltage installation connecting the park to the grid via a 110 kV substation and two independent lines totaling 6 km.
The electricity generated will be sold through long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs), marking one of Bulgaria's first PPAs. The project will also be financed through loans from international and regional lenders. The construction phase will create up to 200 jobs, primarily for local workers, with training programs introduced to address the skills shortage in Bulgaria's renewable energy sector.
Rezolv CEO Alistair Hammond emphasized the importance of combining local expertise with international experience to ensure the project's success. Jaroslava Korpanets, Actis' head of energy infrastructure for CEE, highlighted the project's role in Bulgaria's energy transition.
Rezolv Energy, launched 18 months ago, is rapidly expanding its clean energy portfolio in Southeast Europe, with over 2 GW of projects, including the 461 MW Vifor wind farm in Romania and the 1,044 MW Dama Solar project in Romania.
