Radev Opens Green Transition Forum 4.0, Emphasizes Higher Stakes

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev inaugurated the Green Transition Forum 4.0, underlining the increased importance of sustainable development. The event, held in Sofia, gathered prominent figures from various sectors to discuss the future of green policies in Bulgaria and the wider region.

Radev highlighted the urgency of accelerating the green transition, noting that climate change and environmental degradation pose significant risks to national security and economic stability. "The stakes are much higher now," Radev said, stressing the need for coordinated efforts and innovative solutions.

The forum featured key speakers including European Commissioner for the Environment Virginijus Sinkevičius, who emphasized the EU's commitment to supporting member states in their green transition efforts. "The EU Green Deal is our roadmap," Sinkevičius stated, outlining various funding mechanisms available for sustainable projects.

Participants included representatives from the Bulgarian government, international organizations, academia, and the private sector. Discussions focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and green finance. The forum aimed to foster collaboration and share best practices to achieve the EU's climate goals.

The event also showcased successful green initiatives from across Bulgaria, highlighting the country's progress in renewable energy and sustainable agriculture. "Our achievements are encouraging, but we must accelerate our efforts," Radev concluded, urging for continued innovation and investment in green technologies.
