R.Power Expands International Operations with Major PV Project in Spain
Poland’s leading photovoltaic (PV) developer, R.Power, has announced its expansion into Spain with the acquisition of a large-scale PV farm project in Ciudad Real, located in the Castilla-La Mancha region. The 65 MWp project marks the company’s first major investment in Spain, reinforcing its commitment to the European renewable energy market.
The farm, which spans 90 hectares, will feature bifacial panels and single-axis solar trackers, aimed at boosting energy yields. R.Power expects the installation to generate over 130 GWh annually from more than 100,000 solar panels. With these advanced technologies, the company aims for an energy yield of 2024 MWh/MWp, which is among the highest in Europe.
Spain’s favorable climate for solar energy has positioned it as a key market for R.Power's future growth. “We plan to develop intensively here,” said Ismael Martin Cilla, Head of Iberia & LatAm at R.Power. The farm's energy will be sold under Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), with the Ready-to-Build (RtB) phase expected in 2026.
In addition to Spain, R.Power is expanding across other markets. In Romania, it signed contracts for 23 MWp of PV capacity, while in Portugal, it has launched two PV farms with over 13 MWp. R.Power also formed a joint venture with Elawan Energy in Italy, targeting a 2 GWp project portfolio.
Domestically, R.Power continues its success, recently launching a PV plant in Wielkopolska using tracking systems, contributing to its growing portfolio of over 26 GWp in solar and storage projects globally.
