Portuguese Powerhouses: Solarealize and EDP Renewables Spark Romania's Green Energy Revolution

Solarealize and EDP Renewables, both originating from Portugal, are making significant strides in Romania's green energy sector. Solarealize, owned by Henrique Rodrigues, Silvério Pereira, and Carlos Martins, is developing seven solar projects totaling 600MWp, with three projects to be partly financed under the National Resilience Plan. The equipment and construction work for all of Solarealize's projects will cost approximately EUR 300 million.

On the other hand, EDP Renewables, currently the third-largest investor in Romania's green energy sector, has an installed capacity of 521MW in wind and solar installations, involving investments of EUR 750 million. EDP Renewables has obtained power grid permits for two large solar projects, Solar Phoenix and Fravezac, with a combined capacity of nearly 240MWp and investments of around EUR 200 million. These developments signify a substantial investment of around EUR 500 million and are set to bolster Romania's renewable energy capacity in the coming years.
