Polish Developer Constructs New Solar Farm in Portugal
Polish developer R.Power has completed the construction of another photovoltaic (PV) farm in Portugal, continuing its expansion in the Iberian Peninsula. The new solar project, located in the Alentejo region, adds 30 megawatts (MW) to Portugal's renewable energy capacity.
This development is part of R.Power's broader strategy to establish a significant presence in southern Europe, where the company has identified substantial growth opportunities due to favorable climatic conditions and supportive regulatory environments.
"The completion of the Alentejo PV farm marks another milestone in our international expansion," said Przemek Pięta, CEO of R.Power. "We are committed to increasing our renewable energy footprint and contributing to Europe's energy transition."
R.Power has been actively investing in the Portuguese market, having already developed several other solar projects in the region. The company aims to reach a total installed capacity of 500 MW in Portugal by 2025.
The Alentejo PV farm is expected to produce approximately 60 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity annually, enough to power around 20,000 households. This project is part of Portugal's national plan to achieve 80% renewable energy in its electricity mix by 2030.
R.Power's expansion aligns with the European Union's Green Deal, which aims to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. The company's activities also support the local economy through job creation and investment in infrastructure.
