Poland Sees Surge in Used Electric Vehicle Adoption
The number of electric vehicles (EVs) on Polish roads is steadily increasing, with a significant rise in the adoption of used EVs. As of the end of June 2024, there are over 50,000 registered electric cars in Poland, marking a 40% increase from the previous year. This growth is partly driven by the affordability and availability of used EVs, which accounted for 30% of all electric cars sold in the first half of 2024.
According to the Polish Alternative Fuels Association (PSPA), this trend is expected to continue as more consumers become environmentally conscious and seek cost-effective alternatives to new electric vehicles. The association reports that the most popular used electric models include the Nissan Leaf, BMW i3, and Renault Zoe.
The rising popularity of used EVs is also attributed to improvements in the national charging infrastructure. Poland now has over 4,000 public charging points, an increase of 25% from the previous year. This expansion is supported by government initiatives and investments aimed at promoting electromobility and reducing carbon emissions.
Despite the growth, challenges remain. The PSPA highlights the need for further investment in charging infrastructure, particularly in rural areas, and continued government incentives to support the adoption of electric vehicles.
