Poland Announces Subsidies for Solar Program "My Electricity 6.0"
The Polish government has unveiled details of the subsidies available under the "My Electricity 6.0" program, aimed at boosting solar energy adoption. The initiative, announced by the Ministry of Climate and Environment, offers financial support to households and small businesses investing in photovoltaic installations, energy storage systems, and heat pumps.
The latest edition of the program, set to launch on September 1, 2024, will provide up to PLN 6,000 (approximately USD 1,500) per photovoltaic installation. Energy storage systems and heat pumps are also eligible for subsidies, with maximum funding of PLN 15,000 and PLN 19,000 respectively. This iteration of the program increases the total available funds to PLN 1 billion, a significant rise from the PLN 855 million allocated in the previous edition.
Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa emphasized the program's role in promoting energy independence and reducing carbon emissions. "My Electricity 6.0 is a crucial step towards achieving our renewable energy goals and ensuring a sustainable future for Poland," Moskwa stated.
The program is expected to further stimulate the growth of the solar energy sector, which has seen substantial development in recent years. In 2023 alone, Poland added over 1.5 GW of new photovoltaic capacity, positioning the country as one of the fastest-growing solar markets in Europe.
Applications for the subsidies will be accepted through the dedicated online platform, with priority given to projects that integrate multiple renewable energy technologies. The government aims to support the installation of at least 200,000 new solar systems under this scheme.
