Photon Energy Trading Becomes First Aggregator on URE List

The Energy Regulatory Office (URE) has officially added its first entity to the list of aggregators. Photon Energy Trading PL Sp. z o. o., based in Poznań, will commence aggregation activities on December 1, 2024. It will operate across six electricity system operators: Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne, Enea Operator, Energa-Operator, PGE Dystrybucja, Stoen Operator, and Tauron Dystrybucja.

Aggregators, defined under the Energy Law, manage the combined energy output from smaller electricity producers, storage owners, and consumers to optimize electricity sales and provide flexibility services. Photon Energy Trading has confirmed it will not use a partner trading platform for renewable energy.

To qualify, aggregators must detail the system operators they will work with and the planned start date. URE requires aggregators to submit a copy of their agreement with electricity producers, consumers, or storage owners before officially starting operations.

If aggregation does not commence within six months, the aggregator will be removed from the URE list. The list is publicly available on URE’s website, excluding protected personal data.
