OX2, Nala Renewables Begin Construction of 99.2 MW Green Breeze Wind Farm in Romania
OX2 Romania and Nala Renewables have commenced construction of the 99.2 MW Green Breeze wind farm in Galați County, Romania, according to a press release. Nala Renewables acquired the project in August 2024, with OX2 responsible for building and managing operations under Nala’s oversight.
Located primarily in Cuca, Galați County, the wind farm will feature 16 Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines and is expected to be operational in 2025. A grid connection contract was secured with Transelectrica in March 2023.
“This milestone highlights Nala’s commitment to renewable energy growth in Romania, a key market for us. The Green Breeze project underscores our ability to meet rising demand for renewable power purchase agreements,” said Remy Verot, COO of Nala Renewables.
OX2 Romania Country Manager Lacramioara Diaconu-Pintea praised the collaboration between authorities and investors. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to produce 312 GWh annually, meeting the electricity needs of 51,000 households and reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 150,000 tons annually.
Civil works and the medium-voltage network will be handled by CJR Renewables, while the Enevo Group-Siemens Energy consortium will build the grid connection. Kompact Grid and Bilfinger Tebodin will provide technical and engineering support.
The project is financed by Erste Group and Banca Comercială Română. Nala Renewables, a joint venture of Trafigura and IFM Investors, aims to build a 4 GW renewable portfolio by 2025. OX2 operates renewable projects in 11 European countries and Australia.
