Orange Orders Solar Power in SaaS Model
Orange Polska, a leading telecommunications provider, has ordered a photovoltaic installation in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, aiming to further its commitment to renewable energy and sustainability. This innovative approach allows Orange to benefit from solar power without bearing the upfront costs and maintenance responsibilities.
The project will be executed by Columbus Energy, a prominent renewable energy company in Poland. Columbus Energy will design, build, and operate the photovoltaic system, while Orange Polska will pay a subscription fee for the energy produced. The system will be installed on Orange's infrastructure, enabling the telecom giant to reduce its carbon footprint and operational costs.
Bożena Leśniewska, Vice President of Orange Polska, emphasized the importance of this project for the company's sustainability goals. She highlighted that the collaboration with Columbus Energy is part of Orange's broader strategy to increase the use of renewable energy sources and improve energy efficiency.
The photovoltaic system is expected to have a capacity of 4 MW, which will significantly contribute to Orange Polska's renewable energy consumption. This move aligns with Orange's global objectives to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Dawid Zieliński, President of Columbus Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that the SaaS model provides a flexible and efficient solution for companies looking to transition to renewable energy. He noted that this model could be a game-changer for the energy sector in Poland.
