Offshore Wind Energy surge: Central and Eastern Europe Leads with Ambitious Projects

Central and Eastern Europe is embracing renewable energy, aiming to enhance energy security and meet climate goals. Regional collaboration and infrastructure development are key to unlocking its full potential:
1) Estonia's Ignitis, in partnership with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, won a tender to develop offshore wind farms in the Liivi 1 and Liivi 2 areas in the Baltic Sea.
2) The UK government announced a £55.7 million investment to transform the Port of Cromarty Firth into a hub for floating offshore wind turbines.
3) Romania enacted legislation to support offshore wind power, with plans for the Black Sea 1 and Black Sea 2 farms to be built by 2027-2028.
4) The Dogger Bank offshore wind farm in the North Sea is under development, with phases A and B expected to be operational by the second half of 2025.
