Leapmotor International Confirms Romanian Market Entry, Set to Launch EVs in September 2024
Leapmotor International, a joint venture between Stellantis (51%) and China's Leapmotor (49%), has officially confirmed its entry into the Romanian market. The company will begin selling its Leapmotor C10 SUVs and T03 city cars in Romania by September 2024 through AUTOGREEN MOTOR, a subsidiary of the AUTOITALIA group. AUTOITALIA is the official importer of Stellantis brands such as Fiat, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, and Maserati.
The first batch of Leapmotor vehicles, shipped from Shanghai at the end of July, marks a significant step in Stellantis and Leapmotor’s partnership. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares emphasized that the venture underscores their commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable mobility solutions in Europe. Leapmotor’s founder and CEO, Zhu Jiangming, highlighted the success of their EVs in China, with over 400,000 units sold by mid-2024.
Looking ahead, Leapmotor International plans to expand its European sales network from 200 locations by the end of 2024 to 500 by 2026, with new models set for release annually. This strategic collaboration aims to reshape the European electric vehicle market.
