JinkoSolar to Install Energy Storage Systems at Athens Airport
JinkoSolar, a leading solar module manufacturer, announced plans to install energy storage systems at Athens International Airport. The project aims to enhance the airport's energy efficiency and sustainability by integrating renewable energy sources.
The initiative is part of the airport's broader strategy to reduce its carbon footprint and promote green energy solutions. The energy storage systems will help manage the airport's energy demand and supply, ensuring a more stable and reliable power grid.
Athens International Airport, one of the busiest airports in Europe, has been actively pursuing sustainability projects. This collaboration with JinkoSolar represents a significant step towards achieving its environmental goals.
The energy storage systems will be integrated with the airport's existing solar power infrastructure, which has been operational since 2019. This integration will allow for better utilization of solar energy, reducing dependence on traditional power sources.
JinkoSolar's advanced energy storage technology is expected to improve the airport's energy resilience and reduce operational costs. The systems will store excess energy generated during peak sunlight hours, making it available for use during periods of high demand or low solar production.
"We are thrilled to partner with Athens International Airport on this groundbreaking project," said Kangping Chen, CEO of JinkoSolar. "Our energy storage solutions will provide the airport with a reliable and sustainable energy source, supporting its commitment to environmental stewardship."
The project is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2024, with completion expected by mid-2025. Once operational, the energy storage systems are projected to save the airport millions of euros in energy costs annually and significantly reduce its carbon emissions.
JinkoSolar, headquartered in Shanghai, China, is renowned for its high-efficiency solar modules and innovative energy solutions. The company has a global presence, with projects spanning across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Athens International Airport continues to set benchmarks in sustainability, aiming to become a model for other airports worldwide. This project with JinkoSolar marks a pivotal milestone in its journey towards a greener future.
