General Atlantic to Acquire Actis, Securing 2.1 GW Solar and Wind Projects in Romania and Bulgaria

General Atlantic, a private equity firm, is advancing with its acquisition of sustainable infrastructure investment firm Actis, gaining control over three major solar and wind power projects in Romania totaling 2.1 GW, along with an additional project in Bulgaria. Actis-backed renewables developer Rezolv Energy, headquartered in Prague, is behind these projects, which include potentially the largest solar power plant with storage in Romania. General Atlantic is expected to finalize the acquisition in the fourth quarter, as reported by Profit.ro.

Rezolv Energy recently acquired the remaining 10% stake in its Dama Solar project in Arad from Monsson. The project, near the Hungarian border, is set to become the largest photovoltaic facility in Europe with a capacity between 10.04 GW and 10.06 GW. Additionally, Rezolv’s Vifor wind power project in Buzău County, alongside the 600 MW Dunarea East and West wind farm, adds to its robust renewable energy portfolio.

The St. George solar power project in Bulgaria, acquired by Rezolv last year, with a planned 229 MW capacity, is also among the largest in the region. The company manages other significant wind parks in Croatia, North Macedonia, and Romania.

Upon completing the deal, Actis will serve as the sustainable infrastructure arm within General Atlantic, which manages over USD 83 billion in assets. Actis, with USD 12.5 billion in assets, will continue its focus on sustainable infrastructure under General Atlantic’s global platform.
