European Commission Approves Up to €1.4 Billion for Fourth Hydrogen IPCEI

The European Commission has approved up to €1.4 billion in public funding for the fourth Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) in the hydrogen sector. The project, named IPCEI Hy2Move, aims to support research, innovation, and the first industrial deployment in the hydrogen value chain across seven member states: Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Slovakia, and Spain. The initiative is expected to attract an additional €3.3 billion in private investments and involves 11 companies and over 200 indirect partners. The project will cover various hydrogen technologies, including mobility applications, fuel cell development, onboard storage solutions, and hydrogen production for refueling stations. Completion is anticipated by 2031, creating approximately 3,600 direct jobs and many more indirectly.
