Europe Installs Record 10GW of Energy Storage in 2023, Driven by EU Policies
In a significant milestone for the energy sector, Europe surpassed the 10GW mark for energy storage installations in 2023. This achievement marks the first time in history that the continent has seen such a high deployment of energy storage capacity in a single year.
The data comes from the eighth annual edition of the European Market Monitor on Energy Storage (EMMES), jointly published by consultancy LCP Delta and the European Association for Storage of Energy (EASE). The report, released last week, highlights the growing momentum of energy storage technologies in Europe.
One of the key drivers behind this surge in installations is the ambitious energy policies set forth by the European Union (EU).
