Swedish renewable energy services provider, Ethora Renewables, has officially joined the guarantees of origin (GOs) auctions on the Croatian power exchange, CROPEX, as announced on Thursday. This addition is expected to enhance liquidity in the rapidly growing market of environmental commodities, according to a notice on CROPEX's website.

CROPEX’s GO auctions have attracted a total of 51 participants to date. The GOs, which are internationally tradable, come in a standard size of 1 MWh and are valid for one year after issuance, as detailed on the Croatian transmission system operator's website.

The renewable energy guarantee of origin (GO) electronic certificate system, introduced in 2003, allows producers of renewable electricity to certify the renewable nature of their energy under the EU Renewable Energy Directive. This certification process is supported by the International Energy Agency, ensuring transparency and credibility in the renewable energy market.
