Estonia's Solarstone Launches Europe's Largest Integrated Solar Roof Manufacturing Facility
Solarstone, an Estonian firm specializing in solar-paneled roofs, has inaugurated an automated production line at its Viljandi plant, establishing it as Europe's largest integrated solar panel manufacturing facility. The new line incorporates three advanced industrial robots, enabling solar roof production at a pace over five times faster and more efficient than conventional methods, according to the company.
Romet Roosalu, manager of the Viljandi factory, clarified that Solarstone does not produce the solar photovoltaic modules but focuses on building-integrated solar panels. These panels utilize a patented click-on frame solution that transforms standard modules into two-in-one solar roofs, removing the need for separate roofing materials.
The company is majority-owned by Biofuel OÜ, led by Raul Kirjanen. Biofuel CEO Andreas Laane emphasized that Solarstone's solutions are particularly suited for private individuals generating and consuming electricity at home.
Located in the South Estonian town of Viljandi, the facility employs 25 staff and reported a turnover of €3.2 million last year.
