EBRD Grants $60M Loan to Borusan EnBW Enerji for Türkiye Wind Power Projects
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced a $60 million (TL 2 billion) loan to Türkiye’s Borusan EnBW Enerji. The funds will finance the development and construction of 116 megawatts (MW) of onshore wind energy capacity in Sivas and Tekirdağ provinces. The initiative is part of efforts to combat climate change and bolster Türkiye’s renewable energy portfolio.
Borusan EnBW Enerji, a joint venture between Borusan Holding and Germany's EnBW AG, is a leading player in Türkiye's renewable energy sector, currently operating 730 MW of installed capacity. With projects under construction, the company’s total capacity will rise to 935 MW.
Aida Sitdikova, EBRD's director of energy for Eurasia, the Middle East, and Africa (MEA), emphasized the importance of Borusan EnBW Enerji’s leadership in Türkiye’s green energy transition. General Manager Enis Amasyalı highlighted the company’s commitment to sustainability, energy security, and gender equality in the renewable sector. The projects will support Türkiye's energy needs and climate goals by expanding wind power capacity and fostering inclusivity in the workforce.
