DRI Acquires 60 MW Solar Project in Romania's Glodeni, Expands Renewable Portfolio to 299 MW

DRI, the EU renewable energy arm of Ukraine's DTEK Group, has acquired a 60 MW solar project in Glodeni, Mureș County, Romania. This marks DRI's fourth renewable energy investment in Romania, bringing its total portfolio in the country to 299 MW.

The new project, Glodeni II, is expected to be operational by the summer of 2025, producing 86.4 GWh annually—enough to power over 22,400 homes and reduce carbon emissions by 21,800 tonnes per year. DRI partnered with Finas Group, which handled the initial project phases, similar to their collaboration on the Glodeni I project.

The Glodeni II solar park will be located alongside DRI's existing 53 MW solar park in the region, creating one of the largest solar parks in Romania. DRI also operates a 60 MW wind farm in Ruginoasa, Iași County, and plans to start construction on a 126 MW solar park in Văcărești, Dâmbovița County, by the end of this year.

John Stuart, CEO of DRI, stated the company's goal to build 1 GW of renewable capacity in Romania by 2030. Claudiu Șugar, CEO of Finas Group, noted that the sale to DRI allows Finas to focus on new development projects while DRI manages and operates the investment.
