Czech Republic's Martin Uher Bus Acquires 10 Hydrogen-Powered Buses from Solaris
Martin Uher Bus, a leading Czech transport operator, has secured an order for 10 Urbino 12 hydrogen-powered buses from Solaris Bus & Coach. These buses will be deployed in the Central Bohemian region around Prague, particularly in the hilly areas near Mnísek pod Brdy, starting in late 2025.
The hydrogen for these buses will be sourced from the Vrané nad Vltavou hydroelectric power plant, produced using 100% green electricity. The buses' fuel cells, with a combined power output of 70kW, will ensure efficient operation even in challenging terrains.
Petra Pecková, the Governor of the Central Bohemian region, highlighted the significance of this project, stating, “We are the first region in the country to launch a major hydrogen project in transport.” She emphasized the region's commitment to innovation and the suitability of hydrogen buses for the rough terrain.
Martin Uher, Managing Director of Martin Uher Bus, expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting the advantage of faster refueling times compared to battery-powered vehicles. Roman Zdráhal, Managing Director of Solaris, underscored the company's expertise, mentioning their delivery of over 220 hydrogen buses to 10 European countries.
This order follows Solaris' largest-ever contract, signed last September, to supply 130 buses to Italian operators, with an option for 140 additional units.
