Clifford Chance Badea Advises PPC Group in €700 Million Renewable Energy Portfolio Acquisition in Romania
Clifford Chance Badea announced its role in assisting PPC Group with the €700 million acquisition of Macquarie Asset Management's renewable energy portfolio in Romania. The transaction includes 629 MW of operational capacity and approximately 145 MW of assets under development. The legal team was led by Partner Nadia Badea and Counsel Loredana Ralea in Bucharest, alongside Partner Alex Cook in Munich.
Nadia Badea, coordinator of the M&A Energy practice, highlighted the firm's extensive involvement in renewable energy projects, stating, "This strategic transaction underscores Romania's importance in renewable energy investments. We are proud to collaborate with PPC Group on this and other energy initiatives." She noted that Clifford Chance Badea is actively advising on a record 5 GW of renewable projects across acquisition, development, PPAs, and financing stages.
The firm’s 2024 renewable energy portfolio includes:
- Advising PPC Group on the Romanian renewable energy portfolio acquisition from Macquarie’s Evryo Group.
- Assisting Eiffel Investment Group and BERD in financing two solar plants in Dolj County with a total capacity of 60 MW.
- Supporting Premier Energy's IPO on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, valued at 700 million lei.
- Advising Nofar Energy Romania on multiple projects totaling 643 MW and financing agreements worth €122 million.
- Guiding Erste Group Bank AG and BCR in financing a 99.2 MW onshore wind project acquired by Nala Renewables.
This milestone transaction reaffirms Romania’s status as a pivotal market for long-term renewable energy investments.
