CIS Group Signs Construction Contract for 23 MW Solar Park in Copșa Mică, Romania
CIS Group has secured a contract to construct a 23 MW solar park in Copșa Mică, Romania, with an investment of nearly 100 million lei. The project, scheduled to be operational by early next year, is financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Component C6 – Energy, supporting renewable energy production capacities.
The solar park will also feature a 4 MW energy storage system, further boosting Romania's renewable energy mix. CIS Group's CEO, Sebastian Călugăr, emphasized the company’s commitment to transitioning towards a low-carbon economy, highlighting the project's role in reducing dependence on conventional energy sources and its positive impact on both the economy and local communities.
The energy storage system will allow for efficient energy management, stabilizing the grid during fluctuations in renewable energy production. CIS Group plans to continue investing in green energy initiatives, with a 50 MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) near Târgu Mureș and another solar park near Reghin with a 5 MW production capacity and 1 MW storage capacity, both slated for completion by the end of 2024.
