Central and Eastern Europe Accelerate Renewable Energy Initiatives Amid Policy Shifts

Big changes are coming—new renewable energy laws are lighting the way for a greener energy future with visionary renewable energy legislation that sparks green investments, accelerates sustainable transitions, and paves the way toward a net-zero, climate-resilient world.

The European Commission proposes the “Clean Industrial Deal” to enhance EU industries’ competitiveness while reducing carbon emissions through tax incentives and support for renewable energy projects.

To promote green initiatives, the EU plans to relax state aid regulations, enabling governments to provide financial incentives such as tax breaks and grants for renewable energy projects.

The European Commission has issued additional reasoned opinions to Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, and Romania for not fully transposing EU rules on promoting renewable energy, as outlined in Directive (EU) 2018/2001.

Lithuania has achieved a significant milestone by permanently disconnecting from the Russian-led BRELL electricity grid and synchronizing with the Continental European Network, enhancing its energy security and aligning with its renewable energy goals.

The Ukrainian parliament has approved a groundbreaking law aimed at improving the grid connection process for renewable energy projects, streamlining the integration of renewables into the national grid.
