CATL Unveils Revolutionary EV Battery with 1,000 km Range

Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. (CATL) unveiled its latest lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery at the Auto China 2024 trade fair in Beijing, boasting an impressive energy density of 205 Wh per kg, nearly 8% higher than current state-of-the-art LFP batteries. The Shenxing Plus LFP battery features innovative "granular gradation" technology in the cathode manufacturing process, optimizing energy density.

On the anode side, a unique 3D honeycomb-like material increases surface area and energy density while moderating expansion during charging. The battery's architecture allows for more storage capacity in a single block housing. With a high C-rate of four, the battery can be fully charged in just 15 minutes, providing enough energy for a 600 km journey in 10 minutes or a 1,000 km range in 16.6 minutes.

The battery incorporates advanced technologies, including coated anodes and cathodes for higher conductivity and an AI-powered internal management system to predict the impact of high-current charging at the cell level.
