Bulgarian Company Develops Innovative Insulation Foam to Boost Europe's Green Targets
A new type of insulation material developed by a Bulgarian company in collaboration with universities across Europe and Argentina could significantly contribute to Europe's green targets. The project, part of the international Energy Storage initiative, has involved hundreds of thousands of studies over the past two years, proving the effectiveness of the new insulation foam for both residential and industrial buildings.
Arch. Vesselin Kolev, Executive Director of GBS-Engineering, stated, "With this foam, the energy used for heating of this house is about 19-20% lower than for a house with stationary insulation. It was proven with the project that it is within its capabilities to replace all possible building insulation in the world. The scientific basis has been laid, the experiment is complete, the results are good and from now on, hopefully this becomes a reality and goes into series production."
The innovative insulation panels contain 90% air, significantly enhancing their insulating properties and contributing to the energy efficiency of buildings. Prof. Dr. Eddy Koenders from the Technical University Darmstadt in Germany highlighted the material's benefits: "This is a new insulation material to replace existing ones. It is recyclable, environmentally friendly, very light, sustainable and in the spirit of the European Green Deal."
The goal is to bring the new insulation material into mass production, aiming to replace current insulation materials and further support the European Green Deal's objectives.
