Bright Horizons: Solar Energy Advancements in Central and Eastern Europe

The Balkans are embracing a solar revolution! 🌞 With more solar farms popping up and countries shifting to cleaner energy, the region is making big moves towards sustainability. From powering homes to heating cities, renewables are the future, and it’s happening fast! 🌍💡

Renewable energy company Sunly has initiated construction on three large-scale solar photovoltaic power plants in Latvia, totaling 225 MW in capacity. 

Kosovo’s “Solar 4 Kosovo” project integrates a 69,000-square-meter solar plant with district heating, adding 50 MW of thermal capacity to serve 12,000 new consumers in Pristina.  

The Balkans’ collective solar power generation is projected to reach 13 GW by 2026, a substantial increase from 5.5 GW in 2023, with Bulgaria leading the expansion.

ProCredit Group’s 3 MWp photovoltaic park in Lipjan, Kosovo, generates 3,711 MWh annually, supplying electricity to approximately 450 households.
