Borealis signs renewables PPA in Austria with Burgenland Energie
Austrian speciality chemicals company Borealis AG has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with a renewable energy park in Nickelsdorf. The deal will provide about 70 GWh per year of wind and solar power, meeting 55% of Borealis' local electricity consumption. The generation will be directed to Borealis' facilities in Schwechat, aiming to source 100% of electricity from renewables by 2030, reducing annual Scope 2 emissions by 7,300 metric tonnes.
