Better Energy Connects Sweden's Two Largest Solar Parks in 2024
Better Energy has connected its second large-scale solar park in Sweden to the grid in 2024, located at Hovby Airport in Lidköping Municipality, Västra Götaland region. The Lidköping solar park is expected to generate 24 GWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power approximately 4,800 Swedish households.
Earlier in October 2024, Better Energy's Studsvik Solar Park, with an annual production capacity of 25 GWh, was also connected to the grid. Combined, these projects have delivered nearly 50 MW of solar energy capacity in Sweden in 2024, making them the two largest solar parks in the country.
Andreas Brännström, CEO of Better Energy Sweden, stated, "In 2024, we have delivered the two largest solar parks in Sweden and have significantly contributed to increasing the availability of renewable energy. These projects continue to show that solar energy can be an important part of Sweden's energy mix."
The Lidköping solar park utilizes surplus land at Hovby Airport, achieved through strategic collaboration with Lidköping Municipality, which owns the land. Brännström added, "Together with the municipality of Lidköping, we have delivered a solution that increases renewable energy production in the region while making use of available land."
