Assan Alüminyum Launches 10 MWp Solar Power Plant in Karaman to Boost Energy Efficiency
Assan Alüminyum, one of Turkey's leading aluminum manufacturers, has inaugurated a solar power plant in Karaman with an annual capacity of 10 megawatts peak (MWp). Built on an 11.37-hectare site, this facility marks a significant milestone in the company's sustainability efforts and energy efficiency goals.
Operating under Kibar Holding, Assan Alüminyum is known for its commitment to sustainable production, embodied by its philosophy of “We Produce the Future Without Consuming It.” General Manager Göksal Güngör emphasized the company's dedication to a low-carbon circular economy, highlighting its environmental responsibilities.
This solar power plant is part of Assan Alüminyum's broader strategy to reduce its environmental impact, complementing its hydroelectric facility in Manavgat. The company also stands out as the first in Turkey's aluminum sector to report climate change and environmental performance through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).
Further strengthening its sustainability credentials, Assan Alüminyum's Tuzla and Dilovası facilities are certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). The company recently secured a $90 million "green loan" from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), making it the first in its sector to receive 100% climate-labeled green loan support.
These efforts underscore Assan Alüminyum's role in promoting environmental sustainability while contributing to Turkey's economy through innovation and reliable practices.
