Ameren Missouri Expands Solar Energy with $950 Million Investment
Ameren Missouri has announced a major renewable energy milestone, unveiling three solar facilities set to transform Missouri's energy landscape. These state-of-the-art centers—the 200-MW Huck Finn Renewable Energy Center, and the 150-MW Boomtown and Cass County Renewable Energy Centers—will collectively add 500 megawatts (MW) of capacity to the state’s grid, enough to power 92,000 homes annually. The $950 million investment aligns with Ameren Missouri’s vision to advance clean energy and grid reliability.
The Boomtown and Cass County sites will also support the company’s Renewable Solutions program, offering local organizations an opportunity to bolster their renewable energy use while earning valuable energy credits. Ameren Missouri CEO Mark Birk emphasized that these initiatives reinforce the utility's commitment to sustainable, reliable energy for its customers.
Furthering its green energy goals, Ameren Missouri plans to commission the Castle Bluff Energy Center by 2027. This 800-MW natural gas facility represents a $900 million investment designed to ensure supply reliability during peak demand periods.
Through these expansions, Ameren Missouri exemplifies how utilities can balance environmental responsibility with economic growth, setting a benchmark for sustainable energy transitions in the U.S.
